A paragliding mishap has sent a man to hospital with serious injuries, police with the MRC des Collines reported Sunday.
The unnamed man, described as in his 50s, was part of a Gatineau-area paragliding club out for the day when, according to Sgt. Sheila Caouette, he “possibly lost control of his paraglider” and crashed into a forested hillside along the Eardlery Escarpment near Chemin de Crégheur and Chemin du Destrier.
The officer said the location of the man’s crash, which occurred shortly before 2 p.m., made it difficult for rescuers to reach him. An investigation is underway, she added.
This is at least the second paragliding accident in Ontario in the last couple of weeks. In late May, a 47-year-0ld man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he crashed into a cliff along the Lake Eire shoreline east of Port Bruce.
