Man, 18, killed in stabbing outside downtown hotel

The Ottawa Police Service are investigating the stabbing death of an 18-year-old male in downtown Ottawa early Saturday morning.

The Major Crimes Unit said police responded to a call for help in the 100 block of Besserer Street, outside Les Suites Hotel near Dalhousie Street, at about 3:35 a.m.

The victim, whose name is not being released until family is notified, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. A second male victim was also treated at hospital and released.

The sidewalk in front of Les Suites hotel was cordoned off by police, but the hotel was still open for business and traffic was still moving through the area at 8 am. Saturday morning.

Blood, clothes and debris left from paramedic care was visible near the statue of Simón Bolívar, located at the juncture of Besserer and Dalhousie streets.
