A 36-year-old man is dead after a collision between a motorcycle and a car.

Gatineau police say they found the man with life-threatening injuries after responding to the crash Tuesday evening. The motorcyclist had been travelling eastbound on Chemin de Terres when he collided with an oncoming vehicle. He was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. Police said the victim was a resident of Val des Monts. Police allege that the driver of the Honda Civic, a 29-year-old Gatineau man, may have made a reckless maneuver, which led to the accident. The driver of the Honda was arrested by police. He had suffered minor injuries. He could face a charge of dangerous driving causing death and he has been released with a promise to appear.

Officers were at the scene of the collision Wednesday morning. They shut down parts of road between Montée St-Amour and Montée Paiement. They said investigators would be at the site to determine the events leading up to the crash.

The family of the victim has been notified of the incident, but Gatineau police have not yet released his name. anguyen@ottawacitizen.com
