An Ottawa real estate agent facing attempted murder charges after a knife attack on his wife and daughter last month was denied bail on Thursday.
Labib Khawas, 55, is accused of slicing off his elder daughter’s baby finger in the May 3 attack and slashing his wife across her back with a butcher’s knife at their luxury home in Links Road, close to the Canadian Golf and Country Club.
Both women — the daughter is a University of Ottawa student in her early 20s — were treated in hospital, where the daughter’s finger was reattached.
Khawas and his wife have two other children — a teenaged daughter and a son who is a university student. Khawas’s wife is an elementary school principal.
