Ottawa singer-songwriter Michelle Treacy, 17, learned a lesson in perseverance Wednesday night when she was pulled onstage by Lady Gaga at Montreal’s Bell Centre.

After waiting outside Gaga’s hotel to meet the pop star and ask her for a chance to sing together on stage, Treacy’s wish was granted. The teen had reportedly met Gaga several times before.

Treacy, whose Facebook page describes her as an “indie pop artist” with “dark, unique and quirky” songs, has performed in April at New York City’s Bitter End club, a venue Gaga graced early in her career.

Treacy has also performed at Zaphod Beeblebrox in Ottawa and in a CHEO telethon.

According to the page, Treacy recently completed studio sessions in several U.S. cities including Atlanta and Nashville. She is unsigned, though reportedly taking calls after Wednesday night’s big moment.

Lady Gaga performs in Ottawa Saturday night as part of RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest, a show Treacy is sure to attend.
