A Sunday morning fire at a home in east Ottawa caused an estimated $400,000 in damage.
City firefighters were called to a house at 1587 Verchere St. at about 11 a.m. in response to a report of a garage fire. While they brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, the garage and a vehicle inside were destroyed.
The fire also caused considerable smoke damage to the attached house and the intense heat burned the siding of a neighbouring house.
Two adults were forced from the house as result of the fire, although there were uninjured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
