A protest planned for Saturday afternoon aims to put about 1,000 people on the street near the Human Rights monument at 2 p.m. They will then march up Elgin Street to Parliament Hill.
Three Ottawa-based Palestinian human rights organizations have organized the demonstration over the on-going conflict between Israel and Hamas. The groups, unsurprisingly, condemn Israel’s air attacks on targets inside Gaza. They also reject Canada’s position on the violence, which is based on Israel’s right to defend itself against rocket attacks from inside Gaza.
The groups also condemn the indiscriminate firing of rockets by militants in Gaza.
