Quick thinking from co-workers may have saved a man involved in a workplace accident Monday.
Ottawa paramedics are reporting a 42-year-old man is in serious condition after he was pinned under a heavy lift in Ottawa’s Carlington Heights neighbourhood.
Paramedics received a call around 12:30 p.m. about the workplace incident on Laperriere Avenue.
Before paramedics arrived, co-workers helped the man to get free from under the wheels of the lift. They also controlled potentially life-threatening bleeding until paramedics arrived and stabilized the man, according to a statement from the Ottawa paramedic service.
The man was brought to hospital for further treatment of critical leg injuries, including bone fractures and significant blood loss.
Ottawa police and the Ministry of Labour are investigating.
