Gatineau police are asking for the public’s help to find a stolen Caterpillar front-end loader machine worth $250,000.

Police say the vehicle went missing July 9 around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection at rue Jacques-Cartier and boulevard Gréber.

Witnesses saw the stolen vehicle travelling along Highway 50 and then Highway 5, before taking the boulevard du Casino exit.

“The Caterpillar machine might be not far from the casino,” said Sgt. Pierre Lanthier Monday morning.

“The machine is last seen over there so it might be possible it’s still there, though it’s not confirmed for sure.”

Police say the company name – Pronex Excavation – is written on the side of the yellow vehicle, although it may have been repainted or modified by now. The model number is 938K and the 2012 Caterpillar is about four metres high and eight metres long.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt.-Det. Stéphane Lizotte at 819-243-2345, ext. 6177.
