Firefighters quell rooftop blaze at school

Ottawa Fire Services quickly extinguished a rooftop fire at Broadview Public School, 590 Broadview Ave. on Saturday.

Several residents called at about 11 a.m. to report black smoke visible for some distance.

Firefighters accessed the roof from the outside and declared the fire under control at 11:29 a.m.

An investigation is underway. There was no damage estimate.
