An investigation continues into a stubborn three-alarm fire that heavily damaged a Canada Post building at 720 Heron Rd, near Riverside Drive Saturday morning.
Fire services were alerted by a number of commercial alarms at about 6:40 a.m.
Firefighters reported smoke was visible from a distance and, at the scene, confirmed flames were apparent on the first floor, with on the second floor of the four-storey building.
The intense heat cause several windows to break, prompting responders to declare a second alarm for more personnel and equipment. A third alarm was declared shortly after.
The fire was based on the first floor, and firefighters managed to gain the upper hand by about 7:23 a.m.
Crews remained inside for smoke ventilation and seeking hot spots.
There were no injuries at the fire.
Damages are estimated at about $500,000.
