Gatineau police discovered yet another grow-op, this time seizing 151 marijuana plants, 58 pounds of dried marijuana ready for sale and worth an estimated $440,000 and production materials valued at $25,000.

After being called to 1133 rue Alexandre on Sunday on a call for suspicious vehicles, police said they found signs that marijuana production was occurring at the residence.

Police spokesman Pierre Lanthier would not disclose what those signs were, but that it was “quite clear” marijuana was being grown. Lanthier conceded the signs could’ve been detected via multiple senses, i.e. both sight and smell.

The two men who were inside the residence were arrested. Police said both men were in the midst of “preparing” marijuana to eventually sell it.

Marijuana and production materials were seized after police issued a warrant to search the address.

The property owner, 31, and the other man, 26, may be facing charges of marijuana production and drug possession with an intent to traffic. Neither of the men nor the address were previously known to police.

Both men were released with a promise to appear in a Quebec court at a later date.

Anyone with information about drug trafficking in Gatineau is encouraged to contact police at 819-243-4636.
