Long-weekend train travel west of Ottawa was delayed Friday afternoon because of “operational problems.”
Passengers on board a train, near Brockville and Gananoque, tweeted around 2 p.m. saying the train struck a CN train or truck. Some passengers reported a bad smell on the train, before being bused for the rest of their journeys.
One passenger tweeted firefighters had come on board to check out the situation and that the train’s toilets had stopped working.
Via Rail media relations did not immediately return messages asking what had happened. On the Crown corporations’s official Twitter account, Via said, “Important delay to be expected on the schedule of Train 47 due to operational problems. Details to come.”
No injuries have been reported, Via tweeted.
