A 35-year-old convicted sex offender pleaded guilty Monday to voyeurism for watching a naked woman in her bathroom from the fire escape of her Lowertown apartment.

Police said Joseph Khalife’s pants were pulled down on May 10 as he watched the woman at the two-storey apartment building on Wurtemburg Street where she worked.

The woman, her boyfriend and a neighbour all saw Khalife, half-nude on the fire escape, looking into the woman’s bathroom.

Khalife fled the fire escape and hid in a shed on a nearby property after the woman’s boyfriend confronted him.

When Khalife was arrested, he admitted to police that he had just smoked crack cocaine. Khalife also pleaded guilty Monday to breach of probation for smoking crack cocaine.

Less than two years ago, Khalife was convicted of sexual assaulting a woman in her home. Khalife had posed as a cable repairman when he went to a woman’s house on St. Laurent Boulevard near Montreal Road in July 2012.

Although he wasn’t wearing a uniform, the woman let Khalife into her home where he inappropriately touched her, police said.

Khalife was arrested outside the woman’s home minutes after she called police.

On Nov. 9, 2012, Khalife was sentenced to six months in jail for the sexual assault and 18 months’ probation. He was ordered to give a DNA sample, was given a 10-year weapons prohibition, and will have his name on the sex offender registry for 20 years.

Khalife is to appear in court again on the latest charges on Oct. 6.
