Ottawa – Sussex Drive will experience intermittent closures overnight on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014 at the MacDonald-Cartier Boulevard overpass.

Beginning at midnight, the overpass will be closed for intermittent periods of 15 minutes between 11:45 p.m. and 6 a.m. Ottawa Police Services will be on hand to direct traffic at the intersections of Sussex Drive/King Edward Avenue and Sussex Drive/Boteler Street, however motorists are urged to consider alternate routes.

This work is a part of the Sussex Drive Integrate Road, Sewer and Watermain Rehabilitation Project, a $36.4 million investment to upgrade sewer lines and underground utilities and improve the roadway and streetscaping on Sussex Drive between St. Patrick Street and King Edward Avenue. This work includes the replacement of the existing combined sewer with independent storm and sanitary sewers. This reduction of combined sewer flow is a component of the Ottawa River Action Plan, our City’s commitment to protect the health of the Ottawa River and provide cleaner water, safer beaches and a better environment.

The Sussex Drive Integrate Road, Sewer and Watermain Rehabilitation is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
