A firefighter on his way to work had to stop to tackle a blaze at a home on Roger Stevens Road early Sunday morning.
The fire began at about 5:13 a.m. in a ranch-style single family home at 3457 Roger Stevens Dr., between Malakoff and Dwyer Hill roads.
All of the people inside the house were able to evacuate safely, though the house was fully engulfed in flames.
No injuries were reported and the fire was under control by about 7:15 a.m.
Investigators were en route Sunday to examine the cause.
Earlier in the morning, Ottawa firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment building near Kent Street.
At about 2:27 a.m. firefighters arrived at 417 Maclaren St. to find a fire in an upper floor apartment. The fire was contained to a balcony. No injuries were reported.
