Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a woman in her 80s was struck by a recycling truck Tuesday morning near the village of L’Orignal, near Hawkesbury.
Police said initial findings suggest the truck was heading westbound on Bay Road doing its routine pickup when it struck the woman, who may have been crossing the road.
It is believed that the woman died on impact.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area as the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
A detour has been set up on County Road 17 between King Street and Blue Corner Road.
