Paramedics treated two people for smoke inhalation after an overnight garage fire sent smoke seeping into a south Ottawa home early Tuesday morning.
Ottawa Fire Services says the occupants at 5557 Ficko Cr., near the intersection of Bowesville and Rideau roads, called 9-1-1 at just after midnight.
They said there was a fire in the garage and that smoke was getting into the house.
Fire crews declared it a working fire at around 12:15 a.m. and had the blaze under control by 12:30 p.m.
Ottawa fire says paramedics, Hydro One, and Enbridge were also notified.
Fire officials say paramedics assessed both occupants of the home for smoke inhalation, but crews were not transporting the pair to the hospital.
Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire and estimating the cost of the damage.
As of 1 a.m., Ottawa fire said it was still on the scene overhauling the garage and getting the smoke out of the house.
