A man is facing a slew of charges, including impaired driving and assaulting police, after a driver tried to flee from police in a stolen cab of a transport truck this weekend.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers first tried to stop the Volvo transport tractor in Perth, west of Ottawa, around 7 p.m. Sunday and were finally able to halt the vehicle on the winding County Road 511 in the Township of Lanark Highlands. Police say the truck had been stolen in Ottawa.
Richard Hill, 46, is charged with assaulting police, theft, dangerous driving, impaired driving and driving while disqualified.
Police said Hill is from Quebec but were not immediately able to provide further details about the arrest.
