MRC Des Collines police responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle early Tuesday morning to find a 17-year-old girl dead at the scene.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. along Highway 307 near Cantley. Police believe the girl was waiting for her ride to school along the side of the road when she was struck. Police expect the highway to remain closed well into Tuesday afternoon while they investigate the incident.
Police have not said whether the collision was a hit-and-run.
