Petition to The City of Kanata​

We, the undersigned, request an immediate action by the City of Kanata to improve the hazardous crossing between the Park And Ride and the Bus Station on Eagleson Road.

Users of the Park and Ride have to cross Eagleson Road against heavy traffic at times. The situation is compounded by the proximity of a Queensway on-ramp where drivers tend to overspeed. Although there is a traffic light at the crossing, the long wait on the red light may prompt the pedestrians to rush across the road when there is a bus waiting.

On Monday, a life was lost when Serena Deng was struck and killed by a truck. A beautiful life was lost. Let there be no more.

不敢想象对于她的父母家人，这该是怎样的哀痛。

为了逝者的纪念，为了生者的珍重，我们是否可以考虑帮助设立一个以她的名字命名的纪念基金，关注青少年交通安全，或者 Serena 生前特别热心的其他公益？

刚从教堂祷告回来。 Serena 是一个很有爱心的女孩。今年暑期一直在打工， 准备攒钱明年到南美某国家作公益，帮助建房子。

据教会说， 她的父母想完成Serena 的遗愿，将大家的捐款给一个支持中国儿童的基金， 我不记得基金的名字， 具体情况应该这个星期就会公布出来。晴大家留意星期五， 六的公民报。

我也很赞成建立关注青少年交通安全的基金和促进在出事地点建天桥等改造工程的呼吁。希望华人踊跃支持， 为渥太华建设出钱出力， 发出我们的声音。
