The OCDSB believes that bullying is a serious issue that has far reaching consequences for both the entire school community and the community at large. Providing students with an opportunity to learn and develop in a safe and respectful society is a responsibility in which schools play an important role and as such, the OCDSB developed a Bullying Prevention and Intervention policy and procedure.
A safe, inclusive and accepting school is essential for student achievement and well-being.Every school in the OCDSB is required to maintain a Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan.Safe and Accepting School teams work to make sure that schools are safe and welcoming for all. In addition, the OCDSB provides numerous training courses and sessions in order to better equip staff to deal with bullying in their schools. Anti-bullying programs for students are also offered to schools to support a positive and accepting school culture.
Input into creating a positive school climate is conducted on a regular basis through the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) school climate survey. This is an opportunity for students and parents/guardians to have a voice and this information helps inform schools in the development of the bullying prevention and intervention plan. Please visit the TTFM webpage to learn more about the survey.
