A Petawawa-based soldier died Friday night in an apparent work-related accident, according to reports.
Craftsman (private) Kyle Sinclair, 27, died just before midnight after he was injured in an accident while working “normal duties,” Lt. Jean-François Carpentier told CTV News.
When contacted by the Citizen, Carpentier said the incident is being investigated but was ordered not to speak to any other media outlet.
“I wish I could give you just the same information,” Carpentier said. “But unfortunately I cannot and I have to follow direction.”
Sinclair was performing maintenance on a vehicle when the accident occurred, according to the report. Other soldiers performed first aid on Sinclair before he was taken to Pembroke Regional Hospital. He was later airlifted to the Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus.
According to reports, Sinclair joined the military in 2012 and has been based in Petawawa since 2013 as a member of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
He was apparently doing training with 2 Service Battalion when the accident occurred.
