Emergency crews extricated four people from a van that had crashed along a Highway 417 on-ramp late Saturday afternoon, officials say.
Ottawa Fire Services says it responded, along with paramedics, to a two-vehicle crash along the highway’s westbound on-ramp at the Hunt Club Bridge at around 4:45 p.m.
Fire services spokesman Marc Messier tweeted that firefighters were “using jaws” to access four people trapped in the van. Ottawa fire later said crews had used “bottle jacks” to force the vehicle’s doors open.
By 5:10 p.m., all four occupants of the van were freed. As for the second vehicle, Ottawa fire says everyone was out of the car before firefighters arrived.
