They don’t happen often or they wouldn’t be called miracles.

But when they do occur, they can take all kinds of different forms.

Take the case of 24-year-old Chelsea Fekete, a customer service rep in Richmond who recently learned her grandmother Marilyn Woodison had been diagnosed with liver cancer. Doctors thought this would be her last Christmas.

“It was pretty terrible,” Fekete said, “She’s been sick for a while before they finally figured out what was wrong.”

As these things happen, Fekete found out the newly rebranded Country 94 radio station was having a win-a-trip contest and she threw in an application for the heck of it.

“They contacted me and asked me why I wanted to go to Windsor. I told them about my grandma and they got back to me to tell me I’d won.”

Terrific news, indeed, except Fekete was really keen on travelling with her fiancé Travis Fowler to Windsor.

Cue the Christmas angels:

“I called (prize sponsor Porter Airlines) to explain I wanted to buy a second ticket for (Fowler) and they said they’d cover that.

“It was pretty amazing.”

According to the Porter website, a return trip to Windsor costs $444 to about $900, depending on the plan.

Fekete says the win generated a lot of emotion among three generations of Woodison-Fekete women.

“We were all crying on the phone.”

The tale also got to hard-boiled Country 94 DJ Ryan Lindsay who tweeted: “Days like this are WHY I love my Job. Chelsea gets to go home to spend Christmas with her Gramma. …Welling up here.”

And the tale got a lot of love when Fekete posted it on social media news site Reddit, including a simple message from redditor “Leberkleister 13″: “The simple beauty of this, to me, sets this crazy year right.”

And from redditor “abacap”:

“Good for you, and I’m sorry about your Grandma. This is a helluva Christmas miracle if I ever saw (one).”
