There were snowmen. There were lots of them.
Actually, there were 1,299 snowmen built on Sunday, Feb. 1, enough to eclipse the former Guinness World Record standard of 1,279 and help the Causeway Foundation, in partnership with the Cracking up the Capital comedy festival that help raise awareness for Ottawa-based organizations supporting mental health.
The snowmen had to be built in an hour at the Winterlude event at Lansdowne. The former record was established in Salt Lake City in 2011.
Donations were collected on behalf of the cause.
