Police have closed the northbound lanes of King Edward Avenue at Rideau Street after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle Thursday morning.
The collision occurred at around 11:40 a.m. on northbound King Edward, just north of Rideau Street, said Const. Chuck Benoit of Ottawa police.
The victim, a man, was taken to hospital by ambulance and police were waiting for an update on his condition, Benoit said.
Yellow police tape cordoned off the northbound lanes and debris was strewn across the roadway, including groceries and articles of clothing.
Drivers were being asked to avoid the area.
