Ottawa police have charged a man with drugging and raping a woman after she came forward with allegations a day after the arrest of the same suspect for beating his pregnant live-in girlfriend to near death.
Phillip Wilson, 31, is charged with sexual assault, “administering a noxious thing” and theft under $5,000.
An adult woman approached police on March 12 to report that she had been drugged and raped in a Sandy Hill apartment near King Edward and Wilbrod avenues. Police said they are not disclosing additional details to protect the alleged victim’s identity.
Wilson was already in custody for an alleged attack on another woman the day before. In the early morning of March 11 police arrested and charged Wilson with aggravated assault after his seven-months-pregnant girlfriend suffered life-threatening injuries. The woman recovered but lost the baby.
Police also charged him with resisting a police officer and breaching probation.
Wilson, whose last known address on Nelson Street is blocks from the intersection of Wilbrod and King Edward, is an aspiring model, according to his profile on a site called Model Mayhem. He describes himself as six-foot-three-inches tall and weighing 210 pounds. Wilson lists his “background” as Jamaican and Nigerian and wrote that he likes “all types of people, fashion and music.”
Police believe there may be additional victims and continue to investigate.
Wilson’s lawyer, Robert Carew, says his client intends to plead not guilty to both sets of charges.
Wilson was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. None of the charges against him have been proven in court.
