A fleet of five food trucks rolled up and started their deep fryers for the annual Poutine Festival at the University of Ottawa Monday, offering 30 different kinds of poutine from the trucks and restaurants across the campus.

The festival runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is set to wrap up Thursday at 5 p.m., primarily in the Faculty of Social Science Terrace, and will feature gravy-covered concoctions such as a haggis poutine, a lobster bacon poutine, spring roll poutine and plenty of other fabulous french fry toppings.

The event is separate from the Sparks Street poutine festival, and is held at the university as part of Francophonie month.

Each day of the festival will feature a different event throughout the day. On Monday there will be a concert in the University Centre, Tuesday will offer free maple taffy between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, a cartoonist will make an appearance from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The festival is a collaboration between the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa and the Community Life Service.
