Ottawa police shut down the north- and southbound lanes of Woodroffe Avenue at the Queenway overpass on Thursday afternoon after a multi-vehicle accident .
At least three cars were involved, and the investigation also closed the on- and off-ramps for Woodroffe, causing traffic delays along the Queensway.
Paramedics said a 73-year-old man who was in hospital in critical condition was without vital signs when they arrived but did not have traumatic injuries. A 52-year-old woman and a man in his 30s were in hospital in stable condition. A 15-year-old pedestrian who was on the sidewalk injured his ankle when he jumped out of the way of one of the vehicles.
As of 5 p.m., police did not know when they would be able to open the ramps to traffic.
