The jobless rate in the National Capital was 7.2 per cent in March, identical to the rate in February.

Somewhat strangely, labour force was exactly the same as well, but there were 400 fewer jobs.

It was the second month in a row at the 7.2-per-cent rate in the capital.

The last time the rate was this high was in September, 2010. Since then, there’s been a gain of fewer than 14,000 jobs.

Tech jobs were scraping the bottom, with 39,900 in the capital region in March, versus 42,900 in February and 64,400 in March, 2014.

Federal government jobs dropped to 125,300 in March, versus 127,800 in February.

The good news is the total is still up from March, 2014, when there were 123,800 jobs.
