Italian Week in Ottawa will honour Cpl. Nathan Cirillo at a fundraising concert Wednesday night.

Cirillo was shot and killed Oct. 22, 2014 as he was standing sentry duty at the National War Memorial. Cirillo, a 24-year-old soldier with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada, left behind a girlfriend and a five-year-old son, Marcus.

Wednesday’s benefit features the music of Pino Gioia, Aaron Caruso, Angelica Di Castro, and the National Capital Concert Band performing live in the Algonquin Commons Theatre, 1385 Woodroffe Ave. Tickets range from $40-$60 with $10 from each ticket being donated to the Marcus Cirillo Trust.

Tickets for the all-ages event are available at algonquinsa.ticketfly.com or can be bought in person at the box office. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m.

Italian Week ends this weekend with its grand finale events: The Italian Car Club parade on Preston Street on Saturday and the Preston Street Criterium bicycle race on Sunday. For more information, visit italianweekottawa.org
