Ottawa police major crimes unit has confirmed it is investigating an “assault of a serious nature” in the city’s east end.
Police are not revealing much information about the assault, which occurred on Rothbury Crescent near Montreal Road.
One person was taken to hospital and is in life-threatening condition, but according to Staff Sgt. Bruce Pert, no further details will be released.
“Unlike our usual protocol where someone is dead, no one is dead yet,” he said, adding that the major crimes unit will not be releasing any names or significant additional information.
Unconfirmed reports on social media indicate the victim was in a wheelchair.
