Heavy rains and scattered thunderstorms could be on the bill schedule Tuesday night as the second week of Bluesfest kicks off.
Environment Canada cautioned of a risk of nasty weather in a special weather statement issued for the Ottawa area at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The statement is in effect for the Ottawa North and Ottawa South areas, as well as the Kanata, Orléans, Richmond and Metcalfe communities.
According to the statement, a storm is expected due to an unstable air mass that’s travelling through southern Ontario. Some of these thunderstorms over the region could produce rain at times, with rainfall amounts in the 20 to 30 mm range.
Environment Canada is asking the public to monitor forecasts and warnings at www.weather.gc.ca, especially those who plan to attend an outdoor event such as Bluesfest during the evening.
