A weather system approaching Eastern Ontario from the west was expected to bring as much as 50 millimetres of rain Monday evening.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement saying most of Eastern Ontario east of Algonquin Park could expect 30 to 50 mm of rain during the evening and overnight, with as much as 50 mm possible in some areas.
The agency said some showers and thunderstorms would persist into Tuesday.
