The Ontario Provincial Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 17-year-old youth who was struck and killed while walking along Highway 2 near Irace Drive in Augusta Township, about 100 kilometres south of Ottawa, Wednesday night.
According to police, the youth, from St. Catherines, Ont. was struck by a Pontiac G5 while walking on the highway.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident after receiving a 911 call from a 33-year-old driver of a Pontiac G5 who reported having accidentally struck the pedestrian.
Police found the victim laying in the middle of the road being treated by paramedics. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No charges are expected as a result of the accident.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Grenville County OPP communication centre at 1-888-310-1122, or the Kemptville OPP at 613-258-3441.
