Climbers of all ages and abilities were out among the huge trees at the Dominion Arboretum on Price of Wales Drive Saturday for the Ontario Tree Climbing Championship.

The championship featured five preliminary events: a work climb, belayed speed climb, simulated aerial rescue, foot-lock-style rope climb and throwline challenge. The top four men and two women competitors advanced to the a master’s challenge, to determine the Ontario men’s and women’s champions.

These champions will go on to the International Tree Climbing Championship next summer.

Spectactors were invited to try their hand (and legs) at the event, taking the ‘Climb For All Ages’ under the guidance of a professional arborist.
