A video of an Ottawa police officer punching a man in the face in front of the Salvation Army is the subject of a police investigation.
The video, posted on http://www.liveleak.com, and retweeted by at least one Twitter user, shows an officer standing over a man who is lying on the ground in front of the shelter on George Street. A few seconds later, the officers appear to punch the man, knocking his head the the ground.
The Ottawa police responded to the poster via Twitter, suggesting they provide more information to the force’s professional standards section.
“We can’t comment on any ongoing investigation but we are aware of the video,” Ottawa police media spokesperson Const. Chuck Benoit told the Citizen.
“It will be investigated properly.”
