Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in two sexual assaults that they say may be connected.
On Monday at about 11 p.m. a woman was walking alone on Chesterton Drive in Ottawa’s west end when she was approached from behind and sexually assaulted. When the women screamed, the man fled on foot.
The next night, a second woman was similarly attacked while she was walking on Colonel By Drive near Hog’s Back Park at approximately 9 p.m. The suspect ran when she screamed.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, five-feet-eight- to five-feet-10-inches tall with short dark hair. He was wearing a black winter coat with a fur hood, beige pants and running shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Services sexual assault and child abuse unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS), toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or by downloading the Ottawa police iOS app.
