First responders closed a large section of Albert Street near Bay Street Friday morning after a bus driver reported finding a suspicious package containing a white powder on the bus.
Specialists from the department’s hazardous materials (Hazmat) response unit were dispatched.
The intersection was blocked off and shut down shortly after 9:30 a.m.
It was reopened around a hour later after technicians in head-to-toe protective clothing determined that the substance was not dangerous.
Police did not identify the substance.
The bus driver was treated by emergency responders at the scene but released.
No injuries were reported.
