A man severely burned in a house fire on Albert Street Sunday morning has died of his injuries.
Robert Lawson, 57, died on Monday, Ottawa police confirmed.
Neighbours said Lawson lived alone in the row house at 832 Albert St. near LeBreton Flats. Firefighters were called to the house at about 10 a.m. Sunday and found the victim unconscious on the second floor, suffering from cardiac arrest, burns and smoke inhalation.
Ottawa police are assisting the office of the Ontario Fire Marshal with its investigation.
“There is nothing to indicate that there was anything suspicious about it,” said Sgt. David Christie of the Ottawa police arson unit. “We’re treating it as an accidental fire.”
