Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to identify a stocky robber in a jaunty, Tilley-style hat who held up a Westboro bank.
Police say the man entered the bank on Richmond Road near Churchill Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. on Oct. 29 and gave staff a note that said he was armed. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The man is described as white, 35 to 50 years old and about five-feet-five (165 centimetres) and 200 pounds (90 kilograms). Beyond his wide-brimmed hat he wore a dark winter coat with yellow hood, jeans, sneakers and sunglasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police robbery unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
