A woman was killed and her daughter seriously injured Thursday evening when they were struck by a vehicle south of Manotick .
“We can confirm one fatality as a result of this single car collision,” police said in a statement.
The woman and her daughter were walking along River Road shortly after 7 p.m. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene. The daughter was taken to hospital.
The identity of the victim was being withheld at the request of the family, police said.
Police closed River Road in both directions between Rideau Forest Drive and Doyle Road to all traffic while collision investigators examine the scene.
