A 52-year-old man was taken to hospital after a “severe” single-car crash on Rideau Road early Sunday morning.
At 2 a.m., paramedics responded to a call reporting the crash, which occurred at the “S” turn between Bowesville and Downey roads.
They said the car had “left a trail of debris and destruction after leaving the roadway, going through a culvert, across multiple properties and crashing through a tree line before coming to rest just metres from a house.”
Volunteer firefighters helped paramedics extricate the man from the vehicle, using the jaws of life.
Police, paramedics and firefighters searched a wooded area, but didn’t find anyone else.
The man was taken to the Ottawa Hospital Trauma Centre, where he was in stable condition upon arriving.
Police are investigating.
