Three Ottawa men are in custody in Gatineau and a fourth is being sought after a man was attacked early Christmas Day, police said.

Police said a Gatineau man in his early 20s was attacked after he parked and got out of his car just after 5 a.m. in a residential neighbourhood at the corner of Alexandre-Taché Boulevard and Saint-Dominique Road.

Four men, also in their early 20s, pulled up in their own car and attacked the victim.

During the fight, a crowbar was used to smash the driver’s-side door window on the victim’s car.

Three of the suspects then got in the car they arrived in, and drove off, while the fourth fled on foot, said police.

The victim called 911 and gave a good description of the car to dispatchers, which led to police pulling over the car with the three suspects at 5:14 a.m., on the street outside 460 Alexandre-Taché Blvd.

The three were held in custody and are to be charged with assault and assault with a weapon. Investigators were trying to determine if the attackers and victim knew each other and if further charges might be laid.

The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require treatment in hospital.
