It took all night to fight a fire that destroyed a pizzeria on Montcalm Street in the Hull sector of Gatineau Tuesday night.
And Gatineau police say Montcalm will remain closed to traffic “for a good part of the day” Wednesday.
The fire broke out at Naples Pizza at 72 Montcalm a little after 11 p.m. Tuesday. It’s a two-storey building with three apartments upstairs, and two adults were evacuated. But 35 people in all had to leave their homes in the area as 52 firefighters fought the blaze.
Damage is estimated at $472,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by police.
