Ottawa firefighters said a man was taken to hospital after they were called to rescue two people from the Ottawa River early on New Year’s Day.
Police said they received a report of a man and woman in the river near Remic Rapids, at Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway at Island Park Drive, at about 3:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived at the scene with their water rescue team, a man was already in the care of paramedics on the shore.
It was then determined that there was no woman in the water requiring assistance, police said.
It was not also clear from emergency responders if the man had been in the water before they arrived.
The man was taken to hospital by paramedics in good condition.
