A 35-year-old man suffered “multi-system injuries” was airlifted to the Ottawa Hospital Trauma Centre Friday afternoon after his snowmobile crashed on a trail in the Dunrobin area.
Ottawa firefighters were called to the scene in mid-afternoon after the man was thrown from his vehicle after apparently hitting a patch of dirt under the snow trail along a disused rail line near Woodkilton and Vances Side roads.
Paramedics said the victim was thrown almost 100 feet. The mishap was reported by a friend snowmobiling behind the victim.
First responders placed the victim on a body board and he was transported to hospital via Ornge emergency helicopter.
There was no word on the victim’s condition.
