Gatineau police have seized a large quantity of methamphetamine and counterfeit Cialis erectile dysfunction pills, as well as dismantling a sophisticated drug lab in a vacant apartment.
The operation began Monday when police raided an apartment at 781 St-René E. Blvd. where they found almost 5,000 methamphetamine tablets and 12,125 counterfeit Cialis pills.
They also found a large quantity of drugmaking equipment including an industrial pill press and a home-made press which was used to make larger units of drugs in the form of kilo-sized blocks.
The Sûreté du Québec was called to the scene to ensure it was safe to take possession of the drugs and equipment. Tests by the SQ indicated the industrial press had a production capacity of 21,000 pills per hour.
Police also seized a large quantity of raw ingredients, a pill counter, electronic weighing machines, a vacuum sealer as well as masks and a number of drugmaking recipes.
Gatineau police said there have been no arrests as yet but the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call 819-243-4636, and press “2.”
