It might be just a small fraction of the Powerball payout, but a $1-million prize in a Lotto 6/49 draw this week should still make some Ottawa lottery player happy.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. said Thursday that the winning ticket for a “guaranteed $1 million” that was part of Wednesday’s draw was sold at an undisclosed location in the capital. The draw’s overall $5-million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Saskatoon.
Winners in Florida, Tennessee and California will share as much as $1.6 billion U.S. (that’s roughly a gazillion Canadian) in the U.S. Powerball draw, which also took place Wednesday. Officials say it was the largest lottery prize in history.
